We all know that Uber has been operating for some time in Cabo. But to the dismay of many, this week saw the rejection in State Congress of the new mobility law that would have made the platform legal in Cabo and across BCS.
UBER has become increasingly popular with locals and tourists. It’s much cheaper than taxis. And it plugs a big gap in local transport infrastructure.
But not surprisingly, resistance from taxi drivers, transport unions and some local politicians have continued. And after what’s happened this week, it looks like they are winning the battle.
Nevertheless, UBER remains undaunted. And insist they will continue to operate despite not being granted “official” status.
The choice is yours. To uber or not. But bear in mind - if you choose to use uber, you may get stopped by traffic inspectors. Also, restrictions remain in place at many resort hotels and at the airport. Where it has been rumored that police may be put in place to deal with the matter….
