Concern for Cabo Arch

Geologist says hurricanes and high waves could eventually lead to the collapse of Cabo’s famous arch.

Since its formation thousands of years ago the Arch – perched between the Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico- has taken a natural battering from the wind and the waves. But thanks to climate change these have got stronger and stronger. And as a result, the natural fractures on the Arch are getting deeper and erosion is increasing.

Experts say there is no way of knowing how long the Arch can withstand these elements. But urge a program of prevention and mitigation to be implemented immediately.

Starting with civil engineering works to strengthen the structure. And studies to monitor  the speed of the erosion caused by hurricane force wind and waves.

A timely reminder that a) we can’t beat nature and b) you need to get down to Cabo to see this amazing natural spectacle ASAP

We would love you to come and stay with us at Los Milagros Hotel. And just so you know, these pics were taken by some of our recent guests.
